How it Works

translate UK’s international network of linguists is fully backed by experienced Project Managers able to support translation and interpreting projects in every industry sector, and in practically any language you care to name.

This page will tell you more about how we approach each project.

1. Your brief

First, our Project Managers will work with you to understand your brief. They take into account issues such as file type and structure, specific language requirements and vocabulary and your target audience. They will then prepare a tailored quote for every aspect of the project and will confirm the timescales for delivery.

2. Finding the right linguist

Your Project Manager will use their knowledge of your business and the project in question to identify the most appropriate translators or interpreters to undertake the work. We work hard to ensure that every linguist assigned to your project has specialist knowledge that adds real value to the language solution proposed.

3. Translation

Once the team of experienced linguists has been assigned, and appropriate tools and systems (such as Translation Memory) have been put in place, the translation work is undertaken and completed to the agreed timeframe.

For the record, translation memory software creates a set – or dictionary – of words and phrases that are translated. Over time, this builds into a powerful tool that can save you valuable time and money by significantly reducing the number of words that need to be translated.

Translation memory is supported by terminology management software, which is effectively a vocabulary repository that can be used by our translators and proofreaders to ensure consistency of style.

4. Polishing

Once the translation work is complete, translate UK will assign an independent, native speaker linguist who will check the accuracy of each translation. The Project Manager will then identify other linguists with a background in your industry to read, proof and edit each translation as necessary. This gives you the reassurance that every translation we produce is consistent, readable and appropriate to the local culture and customs of your target audience.

Our Project Managers will also maintain an overview of all your publications to make sure that the translated documents are stylistically and visually consistent.

5. Keeping in touch

You can be confident that translate UK will be in touch with you at every stage of the project. You will be offered pre-project meetings, regular progress reports and annual reviews, as required, together with comprehensive technical and linguistic advice throughout.
